Editing the Documentary
Over many weeks on my own and in my group I helped edit the documentary to get it to the standard we have now. It took a lot of hard work and I learn't many skills doing so as I had never previously used Adobe Premiere Pro.
To import video clips we had to connect the video camera to the computer and press F5 for the screen to come up we then pressed the record button to capture the clip we wanted. It was captured in real time and when we finished we saved the clip under a chosen name.
After importing the clip it appeared on the left hand side of the screen. we then had to drag it to the top left smaller box to choose which part of the clip we wanted to use. To select the section we used the set in and set out point tools and then dragged the selected section onto the workspace.
If any sections of the video needed trimming down to make room for another clip going inbetween or because it had previously been cut wrong we used the razor tool to get the clip to the correct length required.
To add effects to sections of clips we had to click on the effects tab in the bottom left hand side and from there a range of effects and transitions for both audio and video clips. You then dragged the effect onto the selected clip and could then play with the effect in the top left hand box. Here is a section of the documentary where we used cross zooms and fade for video effects and constant gain for audio effects.

To move clips around the work area the selection tool was used. We could drag clips onto different levels within the work area which meant the clip on the higher level would be infront of the ones on lower levels. we used this in making the mobile phones cutaways.

Voxpops
Today we all went to birkenhead to film the voxpops for the documentary. We set up in 'The Pyramids' shopping centre and asked a few people questions on communication and social networking. When we watched them back in school we realised we had made the mistake of filming infront of a window and the reflections of people walking past were distracting.
So the next time we came to do our voxpops we decided to go to Liscard instead. Here we asked people the same questions as before but to different people. Some of the voxpops we used as the lighting was perfect but as it got dark it meant streetlights got in the way of the shots and caused distractions so we could not use them.
We went to Liscard for one more time during our lunch to get a few more voxpops and again asked people the same questions. We used one of the voxpops in our final documentary as the weather made the lighting terrible.
The questions we asked people are as follows:
1. What ways do you use to communicate with people?
2. What social networking sites do you use?
However we only used question two in ourm documentary as the interviews with the teenagers helped answer question one for us.
Interview: Teenagers
Originally we interviewed people of all age ranges asking them the questions but after watching it back we realised it wasn't going to work and that interviewing only teenagers would help benefit the documentary more. So we interviewed Nicola's brother at her house one day after school. Then we filmed Liam at my house one weekend and then the rest of them we filmed in one of the ICT rooms at lunchtime.
The questions we asked them were:
The first two were started questions:
1. What is your name?
2. What is your age?
3. What ways do you use to communicate?
4. Do you use social networking sites and why?
5. What is your favourite way to communicate?

Interview: Barry Waring
Today we interviewed Barry the guitarist from a local Wirral band Daywalker. We had to refilm the interview for a second time as the lighting in the shots was too dark, the second time round we made sure there was extra light to brighten it up.These are the questions we asked him
The first two were to get him into the flow of an interview

7. What ways do you use to communicate with your fans?
Interview: Jules Arnold
Today me, Amy and Nicola came into school on inset day to interview Jules the E-Learning coordinator for Weatherhead High School. We filmed her in one of the schools meeting rooms.
